ONWhitepapers.com: Should you place your paper on this site?
By Nettie Hartsock

ONWhitepapers.com was launched in 2005. It is truly a new player in the market of white paper vendors. The website also lists sister sites OnWebcast.com and NewsNetPlus.com, which lead to a news-based search engine. The domains were registered under a Canada listing.

The site calls itself the “premier whitepaper resource portal for information technology professionals.” The white paper offerings on the site are diverse and cover many different topics including e-commerce, LANs, systems management, operating systems, outsourcing, software development, security, wireless mobile and IT compliance.

The site offers 20 different newsletters targeted at the same verticals as the white papers. In addition, the site also offers RSS feeds for new whitepapers, security, wireless and mobile, general, CRM and networking.

ONWhitepapers.com has several high-profile companies’ white papers, including vendors such as Siebel, BMC Software, Barracuda and CheckPoint, to name a few.

The site offers f-r-ee postings of white papers, as well as sponsored listings. ONWhitepapers.com also has banner ads available, although I noticed no advertisers. The site offers one sponsor placement for each category. The banner ads run within the right-hand and left-hand columns of the home page and interior pages, according to the website information. ONWhitepapers.com advertising packages range from $9 to $85 per 1000 impressions with a minimum of 15,000 impressions.

White papers can be posted by submitting them online at http://www.onwhitepapers.com/getListed.php.

The most compelling thing about the site (beside the fact that it does indeed have some very relevant and timely white papers) is the big-name vendors that have white papers listed on the site. On the other hand, it’s very hard to tell if the site has an audience or what the audience numbers might truly be.

Bottom line to marketers…post a white paper for f-r-ee and see what, if any, response you receive. At the very least, your paper will be among the larger-name vendors. Hopefully you will have more success contacting OnWhitePapers.com than WhitePaperSource Newsletter did.
